SIPRO is short for Sierra Productora de Cafe, a recently formed association that was created through the collective efforts of eight mostly young coffee producers based in Amatenango de la Frontera. This region is located directly across the border from the world-renowned coffee-producing area of Huehuetenango in Guatemala, sharing similar terroir and coffee quality. By organising themselves into a cooperative, the group aims to strengthen their presence in the market and gain better access to specialty buyers.
